 What is a Turtle?
A Turtle is a part of the educational software LOGO. It has both a virtual and a physical form. The software dictates the action and the physical robot simply does as it is told.
Roamer is not a Turtle, because it contains its own "intelligence". It is self sufficient and does not need a computer.
 Value of Turtle Roamer
What value does a real Turtle have over a virtual one?
1.
The Roamer exists in the same space and time as the students
2.
The relationship between the robot and the student is tangible
3.
Geometry is expressed and experienced in movement, the same movements that the student could make
4.
Mathematical relationships unfold in a visual, concrete way
5.
The students socialize, jointly experience and communicate their mathematical experience amongst each other
